Happy Thanksgiving
We honor this historic day and proclamation originally given by President Lincoln in 1863. We celebrate on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
Abraham Lincoln and Lewis’ father, Jotham Moulton, were fast friends. Lincoln used to visit Moulton in Chicago and bounced a young Lewis on his knee. Lewis’ father Jotham T. Moulton “served as master in chancery for the United States Court of Chicago. Among the many great men of the day who were numbered among his personal friends was Abraham Lincoln, who visited the Moulton home many times when our subject was a youth. Mr. Moulton well remembers talking with him who was to be the ‘Great Emancipator.’” –Santa Ana Register, Santa Ana, CA. Dec. 05, 1938, Mon. Page 13.

- November 1, 1776- San Juan Capistrano Mission is founded by Father Junípero Serra, a priest in the Franciscan order of the Catholic Church on behalf of Spain.
- November 1, 1853 – Prudence Adelia Stoneman, Nellie Gail’s mother, was born.
- November 24, 1874 – Inventor Joseph Glidden patents barbed wire.
- November 28, 1908 – 54-year-old Lewis and 29-year-old Nellie Gail married in Camarillo and had a honeymoon in Hawaii. Nellie shared, “Our house, still standing at El Toro and now the home of daughter, Charlotte, was being built while we were away.” (Nellie Gail Moulton’s Memoir, p. 75)
