Moulton Museum reflects on the historic Swallows Day Parade held in San Juan Capistrano every March. Sixty years ago, Nellie Gail Moulton and her sister, Carrie Drews, participated in the 1962 Swallows Day Parade in the historic, red fringed buggy. Enjoy our historic images from our collection. Daguerreotypes Online Exhibit (2019.08)
In the museum’s collection, we have an array of Daguerreotypes (2019.08) with unidentified individuals. They have velvet lined enclosures with miniature claps to keep the image protected.
St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Monsignor O’Sullivan was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 19, 1874 and later entered the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. O’Sullivan visited San Juan Capistrano in the 1900s. Under his leadership, the mission was restored and the conservation program was developed. He co-authored Capistrano Nights which details the local San Juan Capistrano folklore and the return of the Swallows every year.
