The Art of Barbara Hendricks

About Barbara Hendricks

Residing in Eureka, CA, Ryan draws boundless inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes of the California coast. His work captures the ethereal play of light, particularly the golden hues that surprise even on the greyest of days at sunset over the Pacific Ocean. This profound connection to his surroundings is vividly evident in every piece he creates. Look a bit closer and you’ll see much of his personality in the work. He notes that his best work seems to happen when he isnt trying anymore, just doing, while leaving much of the expectation out of it. Each painting seems to have a story of it own”, he explains. Ryan loves to uncover this story as he paints while letting the work speak to him. “It’s not always readily obvious when I set up the easel to paint. Sometimes I just need to start painting whats in-font of me and the deeper story shows up. It’s there if I am willing to be present and just paint. Just the absolute ism of existence or something”, he laughs.  I’m always working to get lost in a beautiful light at sunset, preferably with my toes in wet sand. There are special moments to be be caught when I’m seeing the world and connected like that.  Theres always been an excitement in my heart to get outside and work on a painting. This calling has never left me, and most likely never will. What I’m left with is my unique way of seeing the world on canvas. It can be an absolute ball and it can drive me nuts in an instant.”

Ryan is a proud signature member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA), where his contributions to the artistic community have been widely recognized and celebrated.
